The President expressed this in Lagos on Thursday when he was facilitated by Lead representative Babajide Sanwo-Olu, at the Lagos House, Marina.

Along with other stalwarts of the ruling All Progressives Congress, Babatunde Fashola and Akinwunmi Ambode, both former governors, attended the event.

Tinubu expressed his gratitude to Sanwo-Olu for hosting him and thanked the other governors and dignitaries who attended the event to honor him.

“You all can see now that it pays to persevere,” he said to members of the Governance Advisory Council.

“Thank you for spreading the understanding to our Nigerian people that we need to take the steps to stop the bleeding of our finances through rapid action of fuel subsidy removal,” Tinubu said. We must choose between limited options.

In order to fulfill the obligation that politicians have toward Nigerians, “from there, we must re-engineer the effectiveness of control and management of our resources.”

That’s what he announced “We need to re-engineer the monetary arrangement of the nation… and see that our financial preparation and monetary interaction is sufficiently straightforward to provide food for all Nigerians.”

He repeated that he needed to eliminate the fuel appropriation to stop the draining in the country’s funds.

He went on to state that Nigeria “cannot afford to be Father Christmas for other countries.” We simply cannot continue to pay the subsidy.

He claimed that Nigerians had chosen him to effect “necessary changes that will benefit not only you, but also your grandchildren and our tomorrow.”

In his appeal, Tinubu stated, “I want us to partner together to rescue our nation and make it whole again,” promising to operate an open-door policy and collaborate with state governors to achieve true federalism.– Tinubu 30 June 2023—I will reform the financial system and ensure transparency
