Tinubu Departs Jeddah for Abuja After Successful Umrah in Makkah

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on Wednesday departed King Abdulaziz International Airport in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, for Abuja following the successful completion of his Umrah pilgrimage in the holy city of Makkah.

According to a statement issued by his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, the President’s aircraft took off from the Royal Terminal of the airport at exactly 5:13 p.m. Saudi time on November 4, 2026.

The Deputy Governor of the Makkah Region, Prince Saud bin Mishaal bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, Nigeria’s Ambassador to Saudi Arabia, Ambassador Yakubu Gambo, and Consul-General Muazam Ibrahim Nayaya, accompanied the President to the airport.

Before his departure, Tinubu held a brief meeting with the Deputy Governor at the Royal Guest Palace within the airport complex.

The President had arrived in Saudi Arabia the previous Thursday and subsequently led members of the Nigerian delegation in performing the Umrah rites, including the circumambulation of the Holy Ka’abah at Masjid al-Haram.

A major highlight of the visit occurred on Sunday when Tinubu was granted special permission to enter the interior of the Holy Ka’abah, where he and members of his delegation performed two raka’at prayers.

During the prayers, the President sought Allah’s intervention for lasting peace, security, unity and prosperity in Nigeria. He also prayed for divine guidance, wisdom and strength to continue serving the country.

Tinubu expressed appreciation to Saudi Arabia’s King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud and Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman for the hospitality and special courtesies extended to him and his delegation, particularly the opportunity to access the sacred structure.

Members of the President’s entourage included National Security Adviser Nuhu Ribadu and the governors of Sokoto, Jigawa, Kaduna, Borno and Yobe states, among other officials.

The President’s departure from Jeddah marks the conclusion of his latest religious visit to Saudi Arabia. He is expected to arrive in Abuja on Thursday, November 5, 2026.
