Tinubu Inaugurates Akwa Ibom Airport Terminal, Announces Approval of Ibom Deep Seaport.
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has inaugurated the new international terminal at Victor Attah International Airport in Akwa Ibom State and announced approval for the proposed Ibom Deep Seaport.
Tinubu made the announcements on Friday during his working visit to the state, where he attended an All Progressives Congress (APC) rally and inaugurated projects executed by Governor Umo Eno’s administration.
The President arrived in Uyo accompanied by his wife, Remi Tinubu, and Vice President Kashim Shettima. He was received at the airport by Governor Eno, government officials, APC leaders and supporters.
During the inauguration of the international terminal at Victor Attah International Airport, Tinubu described his visit to Akwa Ibom as a homecoming, recalling his previous professional engagement in the state as an auditor with Mobil.
He said his experience in the state was significant, noting that he had not anticipated returning as President to inaugurate an airport named after former Governor Victor Attah.
Tinubu commended Governor Eno for his administration’s efforts towards completing the terminal and disclosed that he approved the request for international flight operations after receiving the relevant memorandum.
He also acknowledged the contributions of Senate President Godswill Akpabio.
The President’s itinerary included eight projects: Airport Okopedi Road, Ring Road III, AKWA GIS Office Complex, Command and Control Centre, ARISE Palm Resort, the International Terminal Building, International Airport Hospital and Ibom Aviation Village.
At the APC rally held at Godswill Akpabio International Stadium, Governor Eno requested federal approval for the proposed Ibom Deep Seaport and pledged two million votes for Tinubu ahead of the 2027 presidential election.
In response, Tinubu acknowledged the request and announced his approval of the proposed seaport.
Tinubu is expected to travel to Port Harcourt, Rivers State, on Saturday for another APC rally as part of the party’s political activities ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The Akwa Ibom visit forms part of his engagements with APC stakeholders and supporters in the South South region.
