Tinubu Visits Maiduguri Flood Victims, Pledges Federal Government’s Full Support

President Bola Tinubu visited Maiduguri to console victims of a devastating flood that claimed over 30 lives, displaced more than two million people, and caused significant property damage. During his visit, Tinubu promised that the federal government would provide full assistance to Borno and other affected states to help them recover.

 

He expressed his sympathy to Governor Babagana Zulum, the Shehu of Borno, and the flood victims. The President also commended local leaders for their efforts in managing the crisis and reassured victims that both federal and local governments would do everything possible to alleviate their suffering.

 

The Sultan of Sokoto, Alhaji Muhammad Sa’ad Abubakar IV, urged the government to publicize flood-prone zones to enhance public safety. Meanwhile, Bauchi State Governor Bala Mohammed donated ₦250 million and provided food for over 10,000 displaced individuals.

 

Inspector General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, also visited to assess the damage to police facilities and support the state’s rebuilding efforts. The Sultan’s group, Jama’atu Nasril Islam, called for proactive flood management and urged communities to stay vigilant during the rainy season.
