Afrobeats star Tiwa Savage has spoken out about her relationship with fellow music icon Davido, clarifying recent tensions and stressing that she harbors no ill will toward him. Despite public speculation, Tiwa Savage emphasized that her bond with Davido remains positive and rooted in mutual respect.
The issue between the two singers started in January 2024 after Tiwa Savage shared a photo with Davido’s first baby mama, Sophia Momodu, on social media amid the DMW boss’ child custody battle with Sophia. This led to a heated exchange, with Davido allegedly making threats against Tiwa Savage. In response, Tiwa Savage filed a police report against Davido as a precautionary measure.
According to Tiwa Savage, the misunderstanding escalated after a miscommunication. “I think it was a miscommunication,” she noted. “I think out of anger maybe he might have made threats.” While she admitted that she didn’t believe Davido would carry out those threats, she emphasized the importance of protecting herself. Before resorting to official measures, Tiwa Savage tried to resolve the matter quietly by contacting Davido’s older family members, but none of them responded.
Davido has downplayed the incident, describing their relationship as “sibling-like” and likening their disagreements to typical family squabbles. “Me & Tiwa used to stay in the same house. That’s big sis. It was just like brothers and sisters arguing. It was nothing. No bad blood,” he said.
Despite the tensions, Tiwa Savage assured Davido of her love and loyalty, saying, “I haven’t spoken to you, David, but I do want you to know that I love you and I would never betray you or take sides.” This statement underscores her commitment to their relationship and her desire to move forward positively
