1. On Monday, President Muhammadu Buhari reaffirmed his intention to cede power to an elected president on May 29 of next year. Briefly addressing Mr. Shakib Ben Musa, the Minister of National Education, Pre-School, and Sports of the Kingdom of Morocco, during his visit to the State House in Abuja as the Special Envoy of King Mohammed the VI, he made this statement.

On Monday, the police in Benue State announced that they had begun searching for the kidnappers of Chief Dennis Ekpe Ogbu, the Commissioner for Housing and Urban Development, and two others.

Ademola Adeleke, governor of Osun State, paid a courtesy visit to the State Assembly yesterday to ask for their help and support. They had been at odds over the governor’s order that all Local Government Chairmen resign in accordance with the court’s dismissal of their positions.

Mahmood Yakubu, chairman of Nigeria’s Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), has assured the United Nations that the country will hold elections that are “credible, transparent, and inclusive.” His words of assurance came yesterday in Abuja, during a meeting with UNOWAS, the United Nations Office for West Africa and the Sahel.

According to reports out of Spain, on January 1st, Cristiano Ronaldo will sign a contract with Saudi Arabian side Al-Nassr. Following his shocking departure from Manchester United just two days before the World Cup, the Portuguese superstar appears to have found a new club.

Former House Speaker Yakubu Dogara has rejoined the main opposition party a few days after endorsing the Peoples Democratic Party’s presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar. On Monday, at a presidential campaign rally in Lagos State, the ex-lawmaker was officially welcomed into the party.

7 Reportedly, in the last three days, dozens of terrorists have been killed due to infighting between the Boko Haram faction led by the late Abubakar Shekau and the Islamic State of West African Province (ISWAP). According to reports, Ali Ngulde, the notorious leader of Boko Haram, led hundreds of fighters into battle against ISWAP on December 3 from the Mandara mountains armed to the teeth.

8. Rivers State Governor Nyesom Wike yesterday threatened that the G5 governors within the Peoples Democratic Party would strike back at the PDP presidential candidate campaign council if any member of the council insulted the governors. On Monday, at the opening of a new road in the Eleme Local Government Area of Rivers State, the governor made his threat.

Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, the presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress in the 2023 general elections, took his campaign to London, United Kingdom on Monday, where he detailed his plans to restore the country’s economy, security, and foreign policy if he is elected.

The Information and Culture Minister, Lai Mohammed, has issued a warning to 2023 presidential candidates, saying that they should not minimize the achievements of the Buhari administration. He said that Buhari had built a road to Atuki’s village and that the Peoples Democratic Party’s presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, was responsible for it.
