Prominent Nigerian politicians, including Peter Obi, Rotimi Amaechi, and Aminu Tambuwal, attended the burial of Hajiya Umma El-Rufai, mother of former Kaduna State Governor Nasir El-Rufai, in Abuja. The ceremony drew a large gathering, reflecting the El-Rufai family’s influence across the country.
The late matriarch, who died in Cairo, Egypt, was laid to rest at the Gudu Cemetery in accordance with Islamic rites. Mourners offered prayers for her soul and strength for the bereaved family.
Notable attendees included President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Kaduna State Governor Uba Sani, and National Security Adviser Malam Nuhu Ribadu, who sent condolence messages. Other dignitaries included APC Chairman Prof. Nentawe Yilwatda and former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, who paid visits to El-Rufai’s Abuja residence 
Hajiya Umma El-Rufai is remembered as a devoted mother and strong pillar of support to her family. Her death comes amid legal challenges facing her son, Nasir El-Rufai.
