Tragedy at the Settimo Torinese station: a boy killed by a train, the lines blocked

An 18-year-old Italian boy was hit by a train, dying instantly, at the railway station of Settimo Torinese, the town where he resides, today Wednesday 4 January 2023 in the afternoon. The tragic episode took place on platform 1, where he was passing a convoy on the Turin-Milan line headed towards the Piedmontese capital. The train stopped just 500 meters after the collision. The doctors, the firefighters, the carabinieri, the railway police and the RFI technicians who manage the route intervened on the spot.

The Turin-Milan railway lines (in the section between Turin Stura and Chivasso) and Sfm1 Chieri-Rivarolo Canavese were blocked, with numerous cancellations and heavy delays. In fact, the station was evacuated to allow the investigations and the removal of the body. From the very first investigations, the episode would seem to be a voluntary gesture. Trenitalia has set up a bus service in the sections that have been blocked for about three hours.
