The Bovita central community in Badagry, Lagos State, has been thrown into mourning following the gruesome murder of a 28-year-old artisan, Ayienugba Ezekiel. His lifeless body was discovered in an abandoned fish pond, with his hands tied firmly behind his back.
A Peaceful Community Rocked by Tragedy
The news of Ezekiel’s death spread like wildfire on Saturday night, September 20, 2025, leaving shock, fear, and unanswered questions in its trail. According to his wife, Abiola, Ezekiel had told her he was going to a birthday party around 6 p.m. that evening. However, when he failed to return by 9 p.m., Abiola began to worry.
A Desperate Search Ends in Horror
Abiola’s neighbour brought chilling news that a body had been spotted inside the old fish pond close to the venue of the party Ezekiel attended. When they arrived at the scene, Ezekiel’s brother, Razak, entered the pond and found his body with hands tied behind his back. The family believes it was murder, as no water came out when they pressed his stomach.
The Lagos State Police Command has launched an investigation into the matter, taking statements from family members and eyewitnesses. Community sources alleged that a scuffle broke out during the party, and the celebrant allegedly ordered Ezekiel to be tied.
