The untimely death of Modupe Ayandare, a 500-level student of Agronomy at Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba Akoko, has left many Nigerians in shock and raised questions about the circumstances surrounding her demise. The young student was found dead off campus on Monday, allegedly having hanged herself in a spot near the church where she had attended a vigil.

Activist Oluwaseun Ogunmola has called on the state government to intervene and ensure a thorough investigation is conducted to uncover the truth and deliver justice. Ogunmola also urged the state police command to take proactive measures to unravel the mystery behind this tragic event.
“This is not the first time an AAUA undergraduate will be proclaimed dead without any convincing event that led to the death. With the report and videos seen so far, it looks suspicious and unbelievable that it was a suicide. This is why I am crying out to the state government to help her loved ones get justice for the deceased,” Ogunmola expressed.
The Students’ Union Public Relations Officer, Olaogbebikan Noble, echoed Ogunmola’s sentiments, highlighting the mysterious circumstances surrounding Ayandare’s death. Noble eagerly awaits the outcome of the police investigation, hoping it will shed light on the truth.
According to Noble, when they visited the spot where Ayandare was found, they discovered her kneeling down with a rope around her neck. However, the rope appeared to be loosely tied at the upper part, leading to confusion about the nature of her death. The case has been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department, and the police are diligently working on the investigation.
The spokesperson for the state police command, Funmilayo Odunlami, confirmed that an investigation is underway. While the circumstances surrounding Ayandare’s death remain unclear, the police are committed to conducting a thorough and comprehensive inquiry.
