Tragic Fuel Tanker Collision Claims 48 Lives in Niger, Nigeria

 

In a devastating incident in the central Nigerian state of Niger, at least 48 people lost their lives when a fuel tanker collided with a lorry transporting passengers and cattle. The accident occurred around 12:30 AM local time on Sunday, resulting in a catastrophic explosion that engulfed both vehicles in flames.

According to the Niger State Emergency Management Agency (NSEMA), the collision sparked a fire that not only destroyed the tanker and the lorry but also impacted several other vehicles in the vicinity. The agency’s director-general, Abdullahi Baba-arah, confirmed that emergency response teams were promptly dispatched to the scene to manage the aftermath of the tragic event.

Witnesses and emergency personnel reported harrowing scenes at the crash site, with footage capturing the charred remains of the vehicles and the lifeless bodies of both passengers and cattle strewn about.
