Trailer Accident in Anambra Claims Eight Lives

A devastating accident occurred on Friday night, July 25, in Amichi, Nnewi South Local Government Area of Anambra State. A trailer lost control and skidded off the busy Nnewi-Amichi-Ekwulimmiri-Uga expressway, resulting in the deaths of eight people, including five children and three adults.

The incident happened around 7:30 p.m. at Chisco Park Junction, a bustling area with shops and tricycle/motorcycle operators. Eyewitnesses described the scene as chaotic, with victims scattered across the road and nearby bushes. The community has confirmed the deaths of five children and three adults, with several others injured and rushed to nearby hospitals for treatment. Chief Chinedu Nzekwe, President General of Obiagu Amichi, expressed condolences to the families of the victims and urged caution on the roads. The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) and police are yet to release official statements on the incident, but the FRSC spokesperson, Margaret Onabe, confirmed the accident and promised a detailed report soon.

This tragic incident highlights concerns about road safety in the area. Chisco Park Junction is known for its heavy traffic, and the presence of shops and tricycle/motorcycle operators may have contributed to the severity of the accident.
