“Turin Honours Don Aldo Rabino as New Street Bears Legacy of Beloved Priest and Football Icon”
The city of Turin is set to officially honour the enduring legacy of Don Aldo Rabino by naming a newly developed street after the late Catholic priest and longtime chaplain of Torino Football Club, beginning tomorrow.
The decision, approved by Turin’s Toponymy Commission, recognizes Don Rabino’s decades of service to the community, youth development, charity, and Italian football. The new roadway is located adjacent to the Robaldo Sports Centre, a modern training facility dedicated to Torino FC’s youth teams, symbolically linking his name with future generations of athletes.
Don Aldo Rabino served as the spiritual guide of Torino FC for more than four decades, earning widespread respect across Italian football for his unwavering commitment to players, supporters, and the wider community. Beyond his role in football, he was renowned for humanitarian work inspired by the Salesian tradition of St. John Bosco, founding initiatives that supported disadvantaged children and young people through education, faith, and social development.
The street naming represents one of several civic initiatives preserving Rabino’s legacy since his passing in 2015. He was awarded honorary citizenship of Turin for his contributions to sport and society and also served as Honorary President of the Stadio Filadelfia Foundation, playing a significant role in preserving the historic identity of Torino FC.
The recognition has been welcomed by members of the Torino football community and civic leaders, who describe the dedication as a lasting tribute to a man whose influence extended far beyond the football pitch. His legacy continues through charitable organizations, youth programmes, and annual memorial events celebrating the values of solidarity, service, and sportsmanship.
The honour underscores Turin’s commitment to commemorating individuals whose lives have left a lasting social impact, ensuring that Don Aldo Rabino’s contributions to faith, sport, and community service remain part of the city’s living history for generations to come.
