Two people were injured in a fire that broke out at Nine Energies petrol station in Acero, Abeokuta, Ogun State capital, around 10am on Wednesday.
A witness, who did not wish to be named, told our correspondent that the fire broke out as the tanker was unloading diesel.
Officials said the tanker driver and his passenger died, but authorities said they only sustained injuries.

A source said: “The fire broke out around 10am and heavy smoke could be seen coming from the petrol station.
“It was later learned that the fire occurred while a tanker carrying diesel was being transferred to another tanker.
“However, two occupants of the tanker truck that received the fuel sustained severe burns.”
Ogun State Fire Service Chief Fatai Adefara said while confirming the incident. He said those involved in the fire were taken to hospital with only minor injuries.
“Only one tanker was involved, and the fire occurred while the tanker was filling an underground tank with diesel.” It was the pump machine that caused the fire, and the two injured sustained minor injuries and were admitted to a government hospital.”
