Two Robbers Killed, 23 Suspects Arrested in Abuja

The Federal Capital Territory Police Command has killed two armed robbers in a shootout and arrested four others during a recent operation in the Jahi area of Abuja. The command also reported the arrest of five car thieves and the recovery of 13 stolen vehicles during operations led by the command’s scorpion squad.

According to the Commissioner of Police, officers responded to a distress call on October 21 about a robbery in Jahi. Upon their arrival, the robbers opened fire, prompting a gun battle. Two robbers were killed, and two suspects were apprehended on the spot. Follow-up efforts led to the capture of two more gang members on October 23. During questioning, the suspects revealed they were part of a larger group responsible for recent armed robberies in multiple areas of Abuja.

Additionally, three men linked to a notorious car theft gang were arrested while attempting to sell a stolen Toyota Corolla. Police stated that two of the suspects had previous convictions and admitted to a series of car thefts around the capital over the past year.

Another arrest involved a man suspected of belonging to a gang of car thieves operating across Abuja, Jos, and Nasarawa. Police recovered several vehicles from his residence during the operation, and he remains in custody, awaiting further legal action.

In a separate case, a stolen Toyota Hilux was recovered after it was allegedly taken by a security guard newly employed by the vehicle’s owner. The vehicle was found in Nasarawa, and the search for the security guard continues.
