UBTH CMD Leads Delegation to Condole Edo Deputy Governor Idahosa Over Mother’s Death

The Chief Medical Director of the University of Benin Teaching Hospital (UBTH), Prof. Idia Ize-Iyamu, on Wednesday led a delegation of the hospital’s management team on a condolence visit to Edo State Deputy Governor, Dennis Idahosa, following the death of his mother, Madam Esther Imaguomwanruo Idahosa.

The visit took place at the deputy governor’s residence in Benin City, where Prof. Ize-Iyamu offered prayers for the bereaved family, asking God to grant them strength to bear the loss.

She described the late matriarch as a devout Christian and a strong pillar of her family, whose life left a lasting impact on those who knew her.

Responding, Idahosa expressed appreciation to the CMD and staff of UBTH for the care given to his mother during her stay at the hospital.

“I appreciate the quality of care my mother received before her passing. I am so pleased. I believe you gave my mother the best possible care.

I sincerely thank the leadership and staff of UBTH for their attention and the proactive response of your healthcare professionals throughout the period she was in your facility,” he said.

Madam Esther Imaguomwanruo Idahosa passed away peacefully on April 8, 2026, at the age of 95.

A family statement described her as a respected matriarch from Ovia South-West Local Government Area of Edo State, whose life and legacy will be fondly remembered.
