UBTH CMD, Prof. Idia Ize-Iyamu, Holds Thanksgiving, Governor Okpebholo, Top Dignitaries Attend

It was a gathering of family, friends, and well-wishers on Sunday as the Chief Medical Director (CMD) of the University of Benin Teaching Hospital (UBTH), Prof. (Mrs) Idia Ize-Iyamu, held a thanksgiving service to appreciate God for her appointment as the 7th CMD of the institution.

The event, which took place in Benin City, had in attendance Edo State Governor, Senator Monday Okpebholo, alongside top government officials, All Progressives Congress (APC) chieftains, business leaders, religious figures from the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), as well as staff and students of UNIBEN and UBTH.

Delivering a sermon titled “From Glory to Glory,” Prof. Iyasen Dabor, Pastor-In-Charge of RCCG Zone Trinity Sanctuary, described Prof. Ize-Iyamu as a vessel of God’s abundant blessings, stressing that her leadership would attract divine grace and international partnerships to UBTH.

In her remarks, Prof. Ize-Iyamu expressed profound gratitude to God for His continuous favour, noting that 2025 had been a remarkable year for her family. She recalled her earlier appointment as Dean of the School of Dentistry, UNIBEN, before her elevation to the CMD position on August 7, 2025.

Her husband, Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu, praised Governor Okpebholo for his steadfast support towards her appointment, describing it as a testament to good leadership.

Among the dignitaries present were the Speaker of Edo State House of Assembly, Hon. Blessing Agbebaku; former Deputy Governor, Dr. Pius Odubu; Hon. Matthew Iduoyekemen; Senator Matthew Uroghide; former Speaker, Hon. Francis Okiye; Justice Edigin (rtd); Justice Olubor; APC State Chairman, Jarrett Tenebe; APC State Secretary, Lawrence Okah; Rev. Mike Obadan; Mr. Akeem Tokurah; Hon. Valentine Asuen; former Speaker, Hon. Justin Okonoboh; and Dr. Philip Ugbodaga, among others.
