Ugu Youths Appeal for Reconsideration of Barr. Isere’s Suspension

The Ugu Youths for Developmental Change (UYDC), a coalition representing over 14 communities in Ugu axis of Edo State, has appealed to Governor Monday Okpebholo to reconsider the recent suspension of Barr. Felix Osemwengie Isere as Special Adviser on Oil and Gas.

In a statement jointly signed by the group’s Coordinator, Comrade Monday Osabueki-Osemenkhae, and Secretary, Egharevba Oteki David, the youth body expressed concern over the decision while reaffirming their loyalty and respect for the governor’s leadership.

“Our appeal is not to challenge the authority of His Excellency but to plead for reconsideration based on Barr. Isere’s integrity, dedication, and visible contributions to the oil and gas sector in Edo State,” the statement read.

UYDC emphasized that the matter could be resolved through dialogue, investigation, and mutual understanding, noting that Barr. Isere had already made tangible impact within his short time in office.

The group also reiterated its commitment to peace, development, and continued collaboration with the state government, expressing confidence in Governor Okpebholo’s sense of justice and fairness.

Governor Okpebholo had, earlier this week, ordered the suspension of Barr. Isere over unauthorized fundraising using the government’s name for a proposed Oil and Gas Summit. The summit was subsequently cancelled and the former aide was instructed to refund monies collected from prospective donors.
