Agwu’s emergence as the party’s flag bearer has generated renewed discussions within the constituency, with supporters highlighting his professional background and international experience as assets that could contribute to effective representation at the National Assembly. The accountant, who has spent years working in the United States, secured the party’s ticket following the conclusion of the NDC’s internal selection process.
Speaking after his emergence, Agwu pledged to prioritize the restoration of stable electricity supply across communities within the Afikpo/Edda Federal Constituency if elected. He said access to reliable power remains critical to economic growth, small business development, education, healthcare delivery, and overall community advancement.
The NDC candidate also emphasized his commitment to grassroots development, promising to work closely with local stakeholders to address key infrastructure and socio economic challenges affecting residents. According to him, improved electricity supply would stimulate investment opportunities, create jobs, and improve living standards across the constituency.
Political observers note that issues such as power supply, infrastructure development, youth empowerment, and economic opportunities are expected to dominate campaign discussions in Ebonyi State as political parties intensify preparations for the upcoming elections. Agwu’s promise to focus on electricity has already positioned energy access as one of the major policy issues likely to shape voter engagement in the constituency.
As the campaign season gathers momentum, residents and political stakeholders will be closely monitoring how candidates present practical solutions to longstanding development challenges facing the Afikpo/Edda Federal Constituency and Ebonyi State at large.
