The US Secret Service shot and killed an armed man who breached the security perimeter of former President Donald Trump’s Mar-a-Lago estate in Florida early Sunday morning. Trump was not present at the time of the incident, which occurred around 1:30 am.
The suspect, a man in his early 20s, was carrying a shotgun and fuel can when he was spotted by agents at the north gate of the property. Despite warnings to disarm, he raised his gun, prompting a deputy and two Secret Service agents to shoot him. The man was pronounced deceased, and no US officers were injured.
The Secret Service confirmed that no one under its protection was at Mar-a-Lago at the time. Trump, who often spends weekends at the estate, was in Washington.
This incident follows several previous assassination plots and attempts on Trump’s life. In January, Ryan Routh, 59, was sentenced to life in prison for plotting to assassinate Trump at a Florida golf course. In July 2024, Matthew Crooks, 20, fired shots at Trump during a Pennsylvania rally, grazing his ear
