In 2009 her popular song, titled “100 Cent Original” peaked at #45 position on the Itunes Nigeria chart. That was how she turned to stardom. Nigeria has over a hundred and eighty million inhabitants. For evergreen singers like Uwa Diva, we needed to ask for more information about where and how it all started with her new public figure status.
Who is Uwa Diva?
Well, I am Uwa Diva, that is my stage name. I am into highlife music, I am a model and also a make-up artist. So I have passion for music right from my childhood. I have always wanted to be a celebrity. I have always wanted to be a star. So here I am.
How did you become a celebrity?
Okay, I actually started acting as a child in secondary school, and from there I got an opportunity to act with Edo state artists. I found out that I also had a passion for music. I started writing and by the special grace of God, in 2019,: I was able to take the bold step and hit the studio. I did my single. I do modelling and all that. Apart from modelling which is dominated by women and young girls, the music and movie industries are mostly dominated by men, though a lot of women have made great impacts.
So how are you coping with the challenges?
There are a lot of female stars, I just have to step up my game. I have to work on myself to make sure I come out as one of the best too. There are a lot of challenges, but I will push through.
What advice do you have for upcoming models, music artists and actors in Nigeria?
Well, I want to advise them to work hard, believe in themselves, believe in themselves whatever they do, and work hard. Do not let down yourself, and do not be weighed down by what people might think about you. Just encourage yourself and push through, you will just be fine.
What would you want the government at all levels to do to encourage artists like you?.
I want the government to appreciate us. Appreciate your own, because we are the entertainers. The government should appreciate us financially, or with connections. Give us the opportunity as we are trying our best to entertain people. They have to back us up, stand beside us and support us in every way they can. Thank you.
There is a trend going around in Edo State, that you personally promised to breastfeed elected Nigerian mainstream artists, and why?
It’s no longer breaking news, to be sincere, because I’m a Christian I will like to sew a seed with my big boobs to feed the needy in the Nigeria Entertainment industry. Like Burna Bo is losing teeth because he lacks Uwa Diva’s nutrition, take a look at Naira Marley, he refused to grow because he lacked what? ______.
So many Nigerian entertainers on my list to receive this precious benefit ASAP, all you need to do is send your request from my Facebook page, After clicking the like button on my page then you can request, and then I will decide who’s going to suck my boobs.
Anything you still need to let Nigerians know?
