The West African Examinations Council (WAEC) has announced a temporary shutdown of its result checker portal, citing technical difficulties as the cause of the disruption.
The notice, issued on Wednesday via WAEC’s official X (formerly Twitter) handle, stated that the portal at www.waecdirect.org is currently inaccessible but would be restored within 24 hours.
“WAEC hereby informs the general public that the result checker portal @waecdirect.org is temporarily shut down due to technical issues. However, the council is working assiduously to ensure that candidates are able to access their results in the next 24 hours,” the statement read.
The announcement comes just two days after WAEC officially released the 2025 West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) results on Monday, August 4. The results were made available through the WAEC Direct website and SMS platforms. However, the sudden unavailability of the primary web portal has left many candidates unable to check their results.
WAEC has appealed for patience and understanding from candidates, parents, and stakeholders as efforts continue to resolve the glitch. It also advised the public to rely only on official communication channels for updates and warned against using unofficial websites or falling for fraudulent schemes offering result access.
Despite the inconvenience, WAEC assured that normal service will resume shortly and that no candidate will be denied access to their results once the issue is resolved.
