The National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Professor Nentawe Yilwatda, has described the presidential ticket of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Vice-President Kashim Shettima as the most formidable political combination in Nigeria’s democratic history.
Yilwatda made the declaration during the Rainbow Coalition Presidential Campaign Rally held at the Adokiye Amiesimaka Stadium in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, where he called on Nigerians to support Tinubu’s re-election bid in 2027.
According to the APC chairman, the Tinubu-Shettima ticket represents a combination of political experience, courage and leadership capacity needed to address Nigeria’s challenges and advance sustainable economic development.
In a statement issued by his Special Adviser on Media and Information Strategy, Abimbola Tooki, Yilwatda praised Tinubu for taking what he described as difficult but necessary decisions to address longstanding structural challenges in the Nigerian economy.
He specifically cited the removal of the petrol subsidy, the unification of the foreign exchange market and other economic policy adjustments as measures aimed at strengthening public finances and creating a sustainable foundation for economic growth.
However, Yilwatda acknowledged that the reforms had placed considerable pressure on households and businesses. He maintained that the Federal Government was pursuing economic stabilisation measures, social interventions and infrastructure investments to reduce the impact on Nigerians.
The APC chairman also highlighted the administration’s major road infrastructure projects, arguing that improved connectivity would facilitate trade, reduce transportation costs and create economic opportunities across the country.
He further argued that Tinubu deserved a second term to consolidate the policies and development initiatives introduced by his administration.
Speaking on the political situation in Rivers State, Yilwatda commended members of the Rainbow Coalition and other political stakeholders for supporting the President’s re-election campaign, despite differences in their political affiliations.
He expressed confidence that Governor Siminalayi Fubara, Minister of the Federal Capital Territory Nyesom Wike and other influential political figures would help mobilise support for Tinubu ahead of the 2027 presidential election.
The comments come as political parties and their leading figures intensify preparations and mobilisation ahead of the 2027 general elections.
While the APC leadership has expressed confidence in the Tinubu-Shettima partnership, the administration’s economic record, the impact of its reforms and the performance of opposition parties are expected to remain important issues in the unfolding electoral debate.
APC Chairman Nentawe Yilwatda describes the Tinubu-Shettima ticket as Nigeria’s most formidable political combination and urges support for Tinubu’s 2027 re-election bid.
