Edo State Governor, Senator Monday Okpebholo, has urged residents of Oredo Local Government Area to mobilise support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and other All Progressives Congress (APC) candidates ahead of the 2027 general elections.

The governor made the call during an APC campaign rally in Oredo, Benin City, where he reiterated his administration’s target of securing 2.5 million votes for President Tinubu from Edo State.

Okpebholo expressed confidence in the APC’s political structure across the state, urging party members and supporters to engage residents at the grassroots and encourage their families, friends and associates to participate in the forthcoming elections.

He said his administration’s achievements in security, road infrastructure, urban renewal, education and other sectors would form important parts of the party’s campaign message.

The governor cited ongoing road construction, flyovers, market development, improvements in schools and the development of the new Government Reserved Area (GRA) as evidence of his administration’s commitment to infrastructure and development.

He also dismissed the significance of criticisms directed at his government on social media, arguing that online comments did not necessarily reflect the views of residents who had witnessed projects being executed across the state.

Okpebholo urged the people to sustain what he described as the progress being recorded in Edo by supporting the APC at both state and federal levels.

Earlier, Deputy Governor Dennis Idahosa expressed confidence that Edo would deliver substantial votes for Tinubu and other APC candidates in 2027.

He commended the governor for ongoing infrastructure projects, describing them as important campaign talking points for the ruling party.

Also speaking, the Director-General of the Edo State Presidential Campaign Council, Senator Matthew Urhoghide, described Oredo as a strategic political constituency in Edo South Senatorial District.

Urhoghide urged APC members in the local government to work towards securing more than 100,000 votes for the party, noting that the contribution would support the governor’s broader 2.5 million-vote target.

The APC State Chairman, Jarrett Tenebe, alongside other party leaders, also called for unity, grassroots mobilisation and sustained engagement ahead of the 2027 elections.

The rally forms part of the APC’s ongoing political mobilisation activities in Edo State as political parties intensify preparations for the 2027 general elections.

However, the 2.5 million-vote figure remains a political target announced by the governor, not an established electoral outcome. The final decision will rest with voters when they cast their ballots.

Edo Governor Monday Okpebholo urges Oredo residents to mobilise support for Tinubu and APC candidates as he reiterates his 2.5 million-vote target for Edo State.
