Inspector Festus Onori, 45, was reportedly killed by some commercial motorcyclists at Ogwasi-Uku, Aniocha South Local Government Area of Delta State.
Punch His Metro learned that the deceased was lynched on Sunday on his way to church in the presence of his wife and children.
Mr Austin, the brother of the deceased, said on Monday that the inspector was on his way to church with his wife and three children when a commercial motorbike hit him from behind in Okpanam.
“As my brother drove off for fear of being hit, motorcyclists pursued him. As they continued to track him, that number increased.
“When he arrived at Marble Hill (Okpanam), he thought they would get discouraged and retreat, so he took this road and turned onto the highway. They tracked him down and confronted Kwale when his car ran out of fuel on the Ogwasi-Uku-Kwale Expressway.

“Then they left with his wife and three others.
“They also destroyed his car. According to the woman, it was a passerby who took him to Ogwashi-Uku Police Station before he was confirmed dead.”
The deceased, 45, was an inspector at the Marine Police Station in Cable Point, Asaba City.
He said the widow said that the driver and passenger of the motorbike that rear-ended the inspector’s car were not injured in the earlier accident that led to her husband’s death.
When contacted, the State Police Public Relations Officer, DSP, Mr. Bright Edafe, said he was yet to receive any official information regarding the incident.
“I have not received any official information regarding this incident, so I cannot comment on this matter,” he said.
