Lagos State Waste Management Authority (LAWMA) is currently investigating the tragic death of two of its workers who were fatally hit by a speeding bus at the Charley Boy inward Gbagada-Oworonshoki Expressway on Monday. Folashade Kadiri, the agency’s Director of Public Affairs, confirmed the incident via WhatsApp, requesting understanding as the authority mourns its loss.Investigation Launched by LAWMA After Driver Fatally Strikes Two Street Sweepers

Earlier reports detailed how a bus driver, attempting to evade LASTMA officers, fatally crushed two LAWMA women sweeping the express road. Witnesses described the driver losing control, causing the tragic accident. The agitated crowd led to traffic congestion, and the police confirmed that the bodies were deposited in the morgue. The driver fled the scene, prompting a search.

The Permanent Secretary of Lagos State Emergency Management Agency, Damilola Oke-Osanyintolu, assured an investigation into the incident while advising calm among Lagos residents. Despite social media claims implicating LASTMA officers, the Lagos State Ministry of Transportation denied their involvement, expressing condolences and revealing that a Honda Saloon car, not associated with LASTMA, caused the fatal accident. The police are conducting a thorough investigation, promising to hold anyone responsible accountable.
