The lifeless body of 12-year-old John Soyinka was discovered in Kotogbo community within Asero Estate, Abeokuta, on Monday, with disturbingly missing body parts. Soyinka had been reported missing a week prior, and his disappearance was filed at the Obantoko Police Station.
According to an anonymous resident, the schoolboy vanished after attempting to visit a customer who had conducted a PoS transaction in a shop where he often assisted.
The community is now grappling with the tragedy, suspecting ritualistic motives due to the gruesome details – the boy’s eyes were gouged, and his wrists severed. The police spokesperson, SP Omolola Odutola, is yet to provide an official response.
