The Nigerian Legion has promised to closely partner  to secure and propel  Edo State  in the direction of sustained peace and development which has been recorded  by Governor Godwin Obaseki.

The Chairman of the Nigerian Legion, Sir Ignatius Enabulele who made the promise during the launching of the Emblem Appeal week for the 2024  Armed Forces Remembrance Day in Benin City, said  the development and progress that has been recorded in Edo State is due to Governor Obaseki’s strong conviction that  with a secured environment, development is assured and that with security comes the much needed investments even by the private sector.
“Words are not enough to thank Your Excellency, for all you have done and continue to do in ensuring that the task of keeping Edo State  safe is never compromised.
“Your Excellency continues to demonstrate at every fora that the welfare of Uniform officers and the general environment within which they work are befitting despite the scarce resource’s at the state’s disposal. This is certainly a confirmation that your Excellency who has long become known as the Wake and See Governor is convinced in the truism that security of the people is the supreme law.
“These very visible impact of Your Excellency in the areas of road construction, upgrade of the Civil Service, human capacity development, Power as seen in the Ossiomo Power Project, oil exploration to mention but a few bear eloquent testimony to the fact that with security comes safety of lives and property and societal development,’ he added.
The Edo State Commissioner for Youth and Humanitarian Affairs. Hon. Zubairu Dada Abubakar who represented the State Governor at the Emblem Appeal launch said the event is to encourage the serving armed forces members that loyalty  and sacrifice pays.
“We are here to up lift the lives of our living heroes and also the lives of the families, widows and orphans of our fallen heroes. That is the reason of our gathering today. I therefore urge every one to donate generously to this good noble cause.
“The Armed forces, particularly know the role of this government in ensuring that we have  peace  we are enjoying today in the state. We urge them to continue to support the governor  so that we can continue to enjoy such peace and security across the state.
“As part of the ways to enjoy peace, is to stand by the governor to finish strong and well and to support the governor produce a worthy successor that  will not only continue what he is doing but will surpass the governor’s achievements.
“While we look forward to January 15th, 2024 for the Armed Forces Remembrance Day, the state government will make a donation of N10 million to  the appeal fund.
The Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Youth and Humanitarian Affairs, Eire Ifueko Alufohai Esq.  said that the emblem launch is a demonstration of appreciation of the sacrifices made by the fallen heroes and she  urged Nigerians to take positive steps to come to their  aide by supporting the Nigerian Legion.
