Bandits Kidnap 280 Pupils from Kaduna Schools
On March 8, 2024, over 280 pupils and teachers from Government Secondary School and LEA Primary School in Kuriga, Kaduna State were abducted by bandits Kidnap, sparking national outrage. The incident took place in the Kuriga area of the Chikun Local Government Area of Kaduna State, with the bandits shooting at their victims before taking them away. This abduction comes just a day after 200 internally displaced women were kidnapped in Borno State.
Various organizations and individuals, including the Jama’atu Nasril Islam, Amnesty International, the Parent Teacher Association of Nigeria, the Nigeria Union of Teachers, and the House of Representatives, have condemned the attack and called on the government to rescue the victims immediately.
The state Governor, Senator Uba Sani, visited the scene of the attack and assured the community that the abducted pupils would be returned unharmed. Security operatives have launched a search operation to locate and rescue the kidnapped individuals.
This incident highlights the ongoing security challenges in Nigeria, particularly in the northern regions, and calls for urgent action to ensure the safety of students and teachers in schools.
