The Treasurer of the Ekiti State chapter of the Association of Local Governments of Nigeria (ALGON), Mosunmola Adeyemi, has commended Governor Biodun Oyebanji for his commitment to local government autonomy and non-interference in the funds of the local governments. Adeyemi, who is also the Chairman of the Ikole West Local Council Development Area, made this statement during a press briefing in Ado Ekiti.
Adeyemi highlighted the positive impact of Governor Oyebanji’s leadership on the development of the local councils. She stated that under his administration, there has been visible progress and development, and the local governments have experienced the benefits of autonomy. She urged everyone to support Governor Oyebanji for a second term in office, emphasizing the need to continue the ongoing developments in the state.
ALGON’s expression of support for Governor Oyebanji comes shortly after the Supreme Court ruled that state governments must stop tampering with local government funds and appointing caretakers for local governments. The chairmen of the 38 local government areas and local council development areas in Ekiti State also lauded Governor Oyebanji for the positive changes witnessed in the state during his administration.

The communique issued at the end of the meeting held in Ado Ekiti emphasized the collective endorsement of Governor Oyebanji for a second term in office by the entire members of ALGON, Ekiti State Chapter.
