On September 20, 2024, the Plateau State Police Command announced the arrest of a suspect, Kabiru Mohammed, in connection with the theft of a Toyota Hiace bus. Mohammed, who hails from Sabon Gari Narabi Toro Local Government Area in Bauchi State, was apprehended in Jos, the capital of Plateau State, just three days after the vehicle was reported stolen.
According to Alabo Alfred, the police spokesman, the bus was reported missing on , 2024. Following this report, officers from the Bukuru Division of the police promptly initiated stop-and-search operations throughout the area. Their efforts led to the recovery of the stolen vehicle, which was found in the possession of Mohammed in the early hours of September 20
In a statement, the Plateau State Police Command expressed appreciation for the swift action taken by its operatives. The statement noted, “The Plateau State Police Command is pleased to announce that a stolen Toyota Hiace bus, which was reported missing, has been successfully recovered. Our gallant operatives acted quickly, executing stop and search operations that resulted in the arrest of Kabiru Mohammed.”
Currently, the suspect is in police custody, where he is providing valuable information that may assist in further investigations and potential recoveries of stolen property. The police have indicated that once their investigation is complete, Mohammed will be charged and brought before the court for prosecution.Bauchi Man Arrested for Bus Theft in Plateau State
The Commissioner of Police for Plateau State, Emmanuel Olugbemiga Adesina, reiterated his commitment to maintaining public safety and ensuring the protection of lives and property within the state. He emphasized that the police force would not tolerate any actions that could disrupt the fragile peace in the region.
Furthermore, the police commissioner encouraged members of the public to contribute to community safety by providing the police and other security agencies with timely and accurate information. This collaboration is essential for enhancing the effectiveness of law enforcement operations in Plateau State.
In conclusion, the recent arrest highlights the ongoing efforts of the Plateau State Police to combat crime and uphold public safety, demonstrating their dedication to serving the community effectively.
