The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has arrested Egwuh Inya, a building engineer, for attempting to retrieve illicit drugs concealed in pressure machines imported from South Africa.
The arrest occurred on December 2 at Okeyson Motor Park, Enugu. NDLEA officers discovered 7.40 kilograms of a synthetic cannabis strain, known as Loud, hidden within three pressure machines. The shipment had arrived at Lagos’ Murtala Muhammed International Airport on November 29 before being rerouted to Enugu.
In a separate operation in Adamawa State, NDLEA agents seized 511,000 tramadol pills from a vehicle abandoned by its occupants after spotting the operatives.
Additional arrests were made in Ekiti and Oyo states, involving suspects transporting large quantities of cannabis. Two men were caught with 1,323 kilograms of the substance in a J5 bus along the Ise-Emure Road, while another suspect was apprehended in Igboora with 704 kilograms of cannabis hidden in sacks.
In Lagos, a 65-year-old grandmother was found with 20.6 liters of codeine-based syrup, and another suspect was detained with cannabis and tramadol.
These operations highlight NDLEA’s commitment to combating drug trafficking across the country.
