This was made public in a Government Special Announcement signed by the Secretary to the State Government, Umar Musa Ikhilor, Esq, on Monday, 29 April 2025.

According to the statement, Dr. Oahimire’s suspension follows grave allegations of financial infractions and official impropriety, prompting swift action by the state government to uphold accountability within its health institutions.

“In view of the weighty nature of the allegations against him, His Excellency, Senator Monday Okpebholo, has directed the immediate suspension of Dr. Caulson Osoikhia Oahimire as Executive Secretary of the Edo State Primary Healthcare Development Agency,” the statement read.

The government further announced that the most senior officer within the agency would immediately assume acting leadership, ensuring uninterrupted administrative functions.

A special committee, to be constituted by the state government, is expected to investigate the various allegations against Dr. Oahimire and submit a comprehensive report to the Governor for further action.

The announcement reaffirmed the Edo State Government’s resolve to promote transparency, accountability, and good governance in public service, particularly in sensitive sectors such as healthcare.

The suspension marks the latest in a series of measures by Governor Okpebholo’s administration to sanitise government institutions and protect public resources from misuse.
