Residents in Edo State will soon enjoy improved transportation services as Governor Monday Okpebholo has announced that the newly established Edo Line Nigeria Ltd. will commence operations on June 27, 2025. The governor made this known during an inspection tour of ongoing infrastructure projects across Edo South.
Speaking after inspecting the New Edo Line station, Governor Okpebholo expressed satisfaction with the level of readiness at the facility. “I’ve come to see the work on ground at the New Edo Line station. The vehicles are ready, everything is set. We just needed to confirm readiness for our take-off date,” he said.
Oligbe Henshaw, Managing Director of the Edo State Transport Authority, confirmed that the terminal is set for the June 27 commencement. “This terminal will by God’s grace begin full operations on June 27. All finishing works including partitioning, CCTV installation, and the control room will be completed by next week Friday,” he assured.
Governor Okpebholo also visited several road construction sites including the busy Sapele Road, a federal road linking Edo and Delta States, where he urged contractors to fast-track work to ease persistent traffic congestion.
Responding to the governor’s directive, Li Ou Fu, Chief Executive Officer of CBC Group—the firm handling the Sapele Road project—pledged to complete the immediate sections of concern within two weeks.
The governor’s inspection tour further took him to Temboga Road and Palace Road, underlining his administration’s commitment to accelerating road infrastructure development for the benefit of Edo people.
The launch of the Edo Line transport service is expected to significantly boost inter-city and intra-city travel, enhancing mobility, supporting local commerce, and contributing to the overall economic growth o”f the state.
