Democracy Day: Neda Imasuen Celebrates Edo South Constituents, Unveils Development Milestones

As Nigeria marks 26 years of uninterrupted democratic governance, Senator Neda Imasuen has extended warm felicitations to the good people of Edo South Senatorial District and Nigerians across the world on the occasion of this year’s Democracy Day celebration.

In a statement commemorating the national holiday, Senator Imasuen described the day as a “celebration of the fulfilment” of his promise to provide credible leadership and usher Edo South into a new era of prosperity. He expressed deep appreciation to his constituents for their unwavering support which, he said, has enabled the successful execution of numerous development projects over the past two years of his legislative service.

“Democracy Day serves as a powerful reminder of the vital role unity and collective effort play in advancing democratic governance and sustainable development in Nigeria,” the Senator noted. “As individuals and as a nation bonded by the spirit of national integration, we cannot afford to undermine the sacrifices of our heroes past. Let us continue to nurture and strengthen our democracy by working together to build a brighter future for all.”

Senator Imasuen stressed the power of citizens in shaping national destiny. “We are empowered to choose our leaders, hold them accountable, and participate in creating a shared future,” he said, urging the public to support leadership that is committed to delivering on its mandate.

The Senator used the occasion to highlight several key projects delivered under his watch, including: construction of road networks across communities, installation of solar-powered streetlights and transformers, distribution of industrial sewing machines for empowerment, free provision of fertilisers and farming implements to farmers, scholarship awards to deserving students, distribution of learning materials to over 21 primary schools to enhance foundational learning, empowerment training for traditional birth attendants, and many other developmental initiatives.

“These initiatives,” he stated, “form part of my strategic plan for sustainable economic growth, improved livelihoods, and food security aimed at positioning Edo South as a hub for agricultural investment and development.”

He reiterated that in just two years, Edo South has witnessed accelerated development anchored on the principles of accountability and transparency, underscoring his commitment to providing the needed leadership and quality representation for the district.

Senator Imasuen also paid tribute to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, whom he described as “one of MKO Abiola’s closest political allies and a leading figure in the struggle to restore civil rule through the National Democratic Coalition (NADECO).” He expressed optimism that under President Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, Nigerians are beginning to witness the revival of the dreams MKO envisioned in 1993.

Announcing his official defection to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), Senator Imasuen said the move was occasioned by internal wrangling in Labour Party and strategic alignment to attract greater developmental projects to Edo South, further solidifying his mission to bring lasting transformation to the district.

As he joined the nation in observing this year’s Democracy Day, Senator Imasuen called on Nigerians to renew their patriotism, rekindle their hope, and reaffirm their commitment to unity and peace.

“With collective effort, I believe Nigeria will overcome the challenges of insecurity and division and emerge stronger,” he concluded.
