A senior member of Edo State’s All Progressives Congress (APC), Frankie Aire, has publicly urged a UK-based social media influencer to stop disseminating “hate-filled” videos targeting Governor Monday Okpebholo, accusing the influencer of posing a threat to public peace and safety.
In a statement issued on Saturday in Benin City, Aire claimed the influencer has released over 30 videos portraying the governor in a negative light. He emphasized that such content, “capable of causing breach of peace in the state if left unchecked,” amounts to incitement and could have serious consequences under both Nigerian and UK law .
Aire highlighted one alarming video in which the influencer allegedly encouraged bus drivers in Benin City to “stone the governor” should he reinstate the suspended PSR task force. This, he said, is a clear example of incitement to violence, punishable under current legislation .
Frankie Aire urged the influencer to abandon what he described as “perceived hatred” for Governor Okpebholo, stressing the importance of responsible online communication and warning that continued defamation could result in legal action.
