The Commissioner of Police, Edo State Command, CP Monday Agbonika, fdc, on July 11, 2025, visited the Immaculate Conception Junior Seminary, Ivianokpodi, the scene of a deadly attack that occurred on July 10, 2025, at about 9:00pm.
The visit was aimed at assessing the situation firsthand, sympathizing with the affected community, and reinforcing the Command’s commitment to apprehend the perpetrators of the heinous crime.
CP Agbonika was accompanied by the Deputy Commissioner of Police (Operations), the Commanding Officer of 60PMF, Area Commander Agenebode, DPO Agenebode, and the Officer-in-Charge of the Anti-Kidnapping Unit.
Describing the attack on a religious institution and innocent students as barbaric and a direct assault on public peace and security, the Command extended heartfelt condolences to the family of the slain Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) officer, the leadership of the NSCDC, the Catholic Diocese of Auchi, and the families of the abducted students.
In a swift response, the Commissioner ordered the immediate deployment of tactical teams, including operatives from the Anti-Kidnapping and Intelligence Units, to work in close collaboration with other security agencies, local vigilantes, and hunters. Their mission: to rescue the abducted students unhurt and hunt down the assailants.
CP Agbonika reaffirmed the Command’s unwavering commitment to the protection of lives and property across Edo State, pledging that no effort would be spared in ensuring the criminals are brought to justice.
He also urged members of the public to remain calm and cooperate with security agencies by providing credible and timely information that can aid the ongoing operations and investigations.
“We will not relent until those behind this despicable act are tracked down and made to face the full wrath of the law,” the Commissioner vowed.
