Senate Minority Leader, Senator Abba Moro, has firmly ruled out any plans to join former Vice President Atiku Abubakar and ex-Senate President David Mark in the African Democratic Congress (ADC), insisting he remains committed to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
Speaking during an interview on Channels Television’s Politics Today on Sunday, Moro declared:
“I don’t subscribe to politics of gang-ups and all these shenanigans. I am comfortable in PDP and have no reason to leave.”
Despite the lingering internal challenges within the PDP, the senator representing Benue South emphasized his resolve to remain in the party and contribute to rebuilding it from within.
“If something is going wrong in a democracy, there are two options. Either we put our heads together, try to constructively engage the ruling party to right the wrongs… or we move to a different platform to see how we can wrest power,” Moro said.
“Those who have gone to the ADC have chosen the latter. How far they can go is for conjecture. But I am not joining them.”
When asked why he declined to follow Atiku and Mark, despite their longstanding political bond, the former Minister of Interior responded:
“The reality on ground is that I’m not following. That is the truth. I am comfortable in PDP and have no reason to leave the party now or in the near future.”
Moro also threw jabs at some defectors, suggesting they may have contributed to the PDP’s current troubles:
“Sometimes, some of these exits are good riddance to bad rubbish because some of them may have been responsible for the crisis we have in this party today.”
He concluded by expressing confidence in the PDP’s resilience, noting that two former Senate Presidents and several ex-governors are still standing strong in the party.
