‎
‎Osun State Governor, Senator Ademola Adeleke, and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the state have publicly declared their support for President Bola Tinubu’s re-election bid in 2027.
‎
‎Governor Adeleke made the announcement on Tuesday via his official X (formerly Twitter) handle, following a high-level strategic meeting with the PDP leadership caucus in Osogbo.
‎
‎“Yesterday, I met with the @OfficialPDPNig Leadership Caucus in Osogbo after weeks of consultations with stakeholders across Osun from traditional rulers and civil servants to market leaders and grassroots party members,” Adeleke posted.
‎
‎“I’m pleased to share the resolutions: I remain in the PDP, the party that gave me the platform to serve the good people of Osun. I have been unanimously endorsed by the Osun PDP for a second term in 2026. Our party in Osun has also endorsed President Tinubu for re-election in 2027, recognising him as a proud son of our state.”
‎
‎He reaffirmed his commitment to delivering on his Five-Point Agenda, promising to serve with “renewed focus and dedication.”
‎
‎This endorsement has stunned many political observers and comes amid long-running speculation about Adeleke’s political future, with rumours suggesting a potential defection to the All Progressives Congress (APC), the party of President Tinubu.
‎
‎The rumours intensified after Adeleke, his billionaire brother Adedeji Adeleke, and their nephew, global Afrobeats star Davido, paid a private visit to President Tinubu in Lagos on June 3. The visit, though informal, fueled talk of political realignment.
‎
‎More recently, former APC National Secretary and political rival, Senator Iyiola Omisore, dismissed claims that the APC was wooing Adeleke. He described the governor as a “political orphan” desperately seeking space in the ruling party.
‎
‎Adeleke, however, has repeatedly rejected defection claims. In May, during a stakeholders’ meeting, he stated, “I remain a loyal member and the leader of the Peoples Democratic Party in Osun State. My focus remains on delivering good governance and fulfilling our 5-point agenda for the Osun people.”
