Tinted Glass Permit Extended to October 2nd

The Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, has approved another extension of the grace period for the enforcement of the tinted glass permit requirement for vehicles, shifting the commencement date to October 2, 2025.

According to a statement from the Force Headquarters, the decision follows a marked surge in applications through the official portal, a development the police say reflects heightened public compliance with the directive. The extension, the statement added, would allow sufficient time for thorough vetting of all applications to ensure permits are granted only to eligible and qualified individuals in line with national security considerations.

The Force noted that the additional time will also be used to fine-tune both digital and physical verification processes to maintain the integrity of the permit system and guard against abuse. It reiterated that the only authorized platform for applications remains https://possap.gov.ng, warning the public to disregard unofficial channels.

The police urged citizens to report any cases of extortion, hidden charges, or unauthorized processing to the appropriate authorities, including through its dedicated hotline, 09169967000. The statement further assured that the Nigeria Police Force remains committed to balancing public convenience with robust security measures to safeguard lives and property across the country.
