Phyna Accuses Dangote Group of Backtracking on Promise to Fund Sister’s Treatment Abroad

Big Brother Naija Season 7 winner Phyna has accused the Dangote Group of failing to fulfill its promise to fund her sister Ruth’s medical treatment abroad. Ruth was involved in a tragic accident on August 27 2025, near Auchi Polytechnic in Edo State, where she was hit by a Dangote truck allegedly driven by an underage, unlicensed driver. The accident occurred just six days after Ruth’s graduation, resulting in the amputation of her left leg, with her right leg also at risk.

Phyna revealed that Ruth’s situation is far worse than she initially shared with the public. According to Phyna, the Dangote Group had agreed to fly Ruth to India for advanced medical care. However, after Ruth was transferred to Lagoon Hospital in Lagos, the company’s officials asked Phyna to provide a detailed medical report. Despite submitting the report promptly, Phyna claims the company backtracked, stating they would seek further medical advice before making any decision.

Phyna is adamant that her sister’s life must not be put at risk and needs urgent care beyond what local hospitals can handle. She has called on Aliko Dangote, the owner of the company, to personally intervene in saving her sister’s life. Phyna stated, “My sister’s life must not be put at risk. She needs urgent care and it’s beyond what local hospitals can handle. Dangote must keep to their words.”

The Dangote Group had earlier pledged to offer full support, including comprehensive medical care and appropriate compensation, in line with the company’s policy. However, Phyna’s accusations suggest that the company’s actions have fallen short of its promises. The company claims to have visited Ruth and her family at the hospital, assuring them of their commitment to her well-being
