The Federal Government has announced an upward review of the fees for the Nigerian passport, with the new rates set to take effect from September 1, 2024.
A statement issued on Thursday by the spokesman of the Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS), A.S. Akinlabi, said the increment is aimed at safeguarding the quality and integrity of the new Nigerian Standard Passport, which is expected to fully take effect on September 1, 2025.
Under the revised structure, a 32-page passport with a 5-year validity will now cost ₦100,000, while a 64-page passport with a 10-year validity will be issued at ₦200,000.
However, the service clarified that application fees for Nigerians in the diaspora remain unchanged, standing at $150 for a 32-page passport with 5-year validity and $230 for a 64-page passport with 10-year validity.
The NIS assured that despite the review, it remains committed to balancing quality service delivery with ensuring that passport services are accessible to all Nigerians.
