Edo State Governor, Senator Monday Okpebholo, has expressed deep sorrow over the death of former Inspector-General of Police, Dr. Solomon Ehigiator Arase, who passed away over the weekend in Abuja.
In a statement issued by his Chief Press Secretary, Mr. Fred Itua, the Governor described the late Arase as a patriotic Nigerian and one of Edo State’s most illustrious sons, whose contributions to the nation’s security architecture remain indelible.
“We have lost a great mind, a dedicated public servant, and an exceptional leader,” Okpebholo said. “Dr. Arase was a man of integrity and honor who served our nation with distinction, rising to the pinnacle of his career through hard work and dedication.”
The Governor recalled Arase’s distinguished service in the Nigeria Police Force, where he rose to become the 18th Inspector-General of Police between 2015 and 2016, a tenure marked by far-reaching reforms, professionalism, and a commitment to community policing.
“His legacy of service will be remembered for generations. He was a beacon of hope and a source of inspiration to many young police officers and aspiring leaders,” the Governor added.
Governor Okpebholo extended heartfelt condolences to the Arase family, the Nigeria Police Force, and the people of Owan West, noting that while Edo mourns the loss of a shining star, his impactful life remains a source of pride.
He prayed for God’s comfort for the bereaved family and the peaceful repose of the departed soul.
