The Akwa Ibom State Police Command has apprehended seven suspected student cultists in connection with a cult-related assault, armed robbery, and unlawful possession of a firearm and human skull. The suspects, members of the proscribed Ku Klux Klans (KKK) confraternity, were arrested on September 2025, following a tip-off from a renounced member and student of the Akwa Ibom State Polytechnic, Ikot Osurua.
According to the police, the incident began when the student reported being ambushed and attacked with dangerous weapons by members of the cult group along Ikot Osurua. The victim, who had renounced his membership, was left unconscious with severe injuries, and his Redmi 13C Android phone and N41,000 in cash were stolen.
The police launched an operation, leading to the arrest of seven suspects, including a lady and six others. During a search of their hideout, operatives recovered one locally made short gun, seven live cartridges, one fresh human skull, a bottle containing a substance suspected to be black oil, and a bottle of Guyanese oil, believed to be for ritualistic purposes
The police are continuing their investigation, with efforts underway to apprehend other members of the gang and make more recoveries. Further developments will be communicated to the public as the investigation progresses.
