Chris Emovon Remembered: Tributes Pour In from ‎Hon. Chief Dr. Billy Famous Adesuwa Osawaru, Classmates, Associates, and Olu of Aponmu

‎Hon. Chief Dr. Billy Famous Adesuwa Osawaru, Member of the House of Representatives representing Orhionmwon and Uhunmwode Federal Constituencies, ‎Family members, associates, classmates, and political leaders have continued to pour glowing tributes in honour of Late Elder Chris Osas Emovon, popularly known as Kurata, who passed on June 17, 2025. He was remembered as a devoted family man, a loyal political ally, and a vibrant community figure whose life was marked by service, resilience, and inspiration. His childhood friend HRH Ayodele Raphael Imafidon the OLU Of Aponmu, Ondo State was also in attendance.

‎‎At a solemn Service of Songs held in his honour, mourners described him as a man who “came, saw, fought, won some, lost some, and left his mark in the sands of time.”

‎‎Hon. Chief Dr. Billy Famous Adesuwa Osawaru, Member of the House of Representatives representing Orhionmwon and Uhunmwode Federal Constituencies, said Elder Emovon was “more than a trusted aide” but a dependable ally whose loyalty and wisdom were invaluable.

‎“Elder was a mentor who offered wise counsel and encouragement. His dedication, optimism, and discretion earned him a special place in my heart,” Osawaru stated.

‎‎For his son, Emovon Eghosa, the pain of loss was personal. In an emotional tribute, he described his father as “more than just a parent” but a mentor, leader, and hero.‎“Dad, your wisdom, kindness, and generosity touched countless lives. You taught me the importance of family, hard work, and integrity. I’ll carry on your legacy and make you proud,” he said.

‎The Igieduma Grammar School Old Students Association (IGSOSA), Class of ’82, also paid glowing tributes through its president, Engr. Iredia Egharevba, who spoke on behalf of the Exco and members.‎“To us in IGSOSA, you were a peculiar star who blossomed from a humble beginning to shine in a competitive and opposing world. You radiated joy, vigour, and humour at our meetings, and your political doggedness stood you out. Your memories assure us you have only transited to rest with the Lord. Adieu Envoy Christopher Emovon!” the statement read.

‎‎Also present was His Royal Highness, Ayodele Raphael Imafidon, the Olu of Aponmu, Ondo State, who was Emovon’s childhood friend. The Traditional ruler also joined other mourners to pay his respects.

‎‎Born in Igieduma village, Uhunmwode LGA, Elder Chris Emovon’s journey began with education at Igieduma Grammar School in 1982 before moving to Benin and Lagos in search of better opportunities. In 1992, he married Mrs. Augustina Emovon, and together they raised two children.

‎‎In 1999, he travelled to Morocco in pursuit of greener pastures, spending seven years abroad before returning to Nigeria with valuable experiences. On his return, he immersed himself in politics under the All Progressives Congress (APC), serving as a strategist, writer, and aide to several leaders. Until his death, he was Legislative Aide to Hon. Osawaru, where he was celebrated for his loyalty and dedication to public service.

‎‎Elder Emovon is survived by his wife, Mrs. Augustina Emovon, two children, siblings, and extended family.

‎‎Mourners said his legacy will endure “through the lives he touched, the lessons he imparted, and the values he lived by.” His memory, they added, remains “a beacon of hope and inspiration to all who knew him.”
