The Edo State Police Command has stepped up its operations along major highways, reporting the rescue of a kidnapped victim and the prevention of another abduction in recent days.
According to official reports, Elohor Osifoh, who was abducted on September 10, was freed and reunited with her family after sustained search operations. In another incident on the Benin–Lagos expressway, officers disrupted an ambush in which gunmen had blocked the road with logs and attempted to seize travellers. A driver transporting fish fingerlings and three passengers was rescued unharmed.
Commissioner of Police Monday Agbonika praised the operatives for their swift intervention, stressing that security patrols will continue across Edo’s troubled routes. “We are determined to make highways safe and to dismantle criminal networks threatening the safety of our people,” he said.
These incidents come amid broader security operations code-named “Flush Out Cultists and Kidnappers,” designed to root out armed groups from forested areas in the state.
