Ogun Police Arrest Two Suspected Robbers, Recover Three Pistols and 18 Cartridges.
The Ogun State Police Command has arrested two suspected members of a robbery syndicate and recovered three pistols and 18 cartridges during an intelligence led operation in the state.
The suspects were identified as Adeyinka Onakomaya and Olayiwola Kehinde. According to the information provided by the police, their arrest forms part of ongoing efforts by security operatives to disrupt robbery networks and curb the circulation of illegal firearms across Ogun State.
Police authorities said investigations are continuing to establish the suspects’ alleged involvement in robbery activities, as well as determine the source and intended use of the recovered firearms and ammunition.
The development comes amid intensified security operations across Ogun, where the police have recently reported several arrests involving suspected armed robbers, illegal firearms and other criminal networks.
In June 2026, for instance, The Guardian reported that the Ogun State Police Command arrested seven suspects in separate operations involving alleged armed robbery, one chance robbery, unlawful possession of firearms and other offences. Three firearms, including two locally fabricated pistols and a Dane gun, were among the exhibits reportedly recovered.
Similarly, Punch reported in June that Ogun police arrested six suspects during intelligence led operations across Abeokuta, Wasimi and Ibafo, recovering a pump-action rifle, a locally fabricated pistol and ammunition, alongside suspected stolen property.
The latest arrests underscore the security challenge posed by the availability of illicit firearms and the continued efforts of law enforcement agencies to dismantle criminal networks operating across the state.
The police have not indicated that the suspects have been convicted of any offence. They remain suspects at the investigation stage, and any criminal liability will ultimately be determined through due legal process.
Authorities are expected to subject the recovered firearms and ammunition to further examination while investigators work to establish the wider network, if any, connected to the suspects.
The Ogun State Police Command has repeatedly urged residents to remain vigilant and provide credible information to security agencies to assist in preventing violent crime and protecting lives and property.
