The National Examinations Council (NECO) has released the 2025 Senior School Certificate Examination (SSCE) Internal results, with 60.26 per cent of candidates obtaining at least five credits, including Mathematics and English Language.
Announcing the results at the Council’s headquarters in Minna, Niger State, on Wednesday, Registrar and Chief Executive, Prof. Dantani Wushishi, said 1,367,210 candidates registered for the examination, while 1,358,339 eventually sat for it.
Of this figure, 818,492 candidates (60.26%) obtained five credits and above, including English and Mathematics. A larger number, 1,144,496 candidates (84.26%), secured five credits and above in all subjects, irrespective of the two core subjects.
Wushishi hailed the outcome as a milestone, describing it as a reflection of transparency, credibility, and NECO’s commitment to quality education.
The registrar also disclosed that 1,622 candidates with special needs sat for the exam, including those with hearing and visual impairments, albinism, autism, and low vision.
On malpractice, he announced a sharp decline, with 3,878 cases recorded in 2025—a 61.58 per cent reduction compared to 10,094 cases in 2024. Nonetheless, 38 schools in 13 states were found guilty of mass cheating and will face sanctions, while nine supervisors across Rivers, Niger, FCT, Kano, and Osun states will be blacklisted for aiding malpractice.
He further revealed that results from eight schools in Lamorde Local Government Area of Adamawa State were withheld following disruptions caused by communal clashes.
Prof. Wushishi expressed appreciation to President Bola Tinubu and the Federal Ministry of Education for supporting NECO’s reforms. He also urged higher institutions to wait for the release of results from all examination bodies before finalising admissions.
Candidates are advised to check their results online at www.neco.gov.ng using their registration numbers.
