In a decisive move against the rising threat of kidnapping, the Edo State Police Command has successfully rescued seven kidnapped victims in a joint operation carried out in Ewohimi, Esan South-East Local Government Area of Edo State.
The rescue operation followed a distress report made on Saturday, 1st November 2025, by one Enoch Omozokpia of Ikeken, Ewohimi. He informed the police that his father, Mr. William Omozokpia (65), along with six other individuals, had been abducted by armed men while en route to their farms in the expansive Ikeken Forest.
Acting swiftly, the Divisional Police Officer of Ewohimi led a coordinated rescue mission in collaboration with the Nigerian Army and local vigilante groups. The combined team embarked on a tactical bush combing operation that forced the kidnappers to abandon their captives and flee.
All seven victims were rescued unharmed and have since been reunited with their families. The rescued individuals include:
1. Mr. William Akhabue
2. Mr. Innocent Ebarekor
3. Mrs. Rachel Ebarekor
4. Miss Efuah Ebarekor
5. Master Winner Ebarekor
6. Mr. William Omozokpia
7. Mr. Lucky Igiese (popularly known as Bulala)
Commissioner of Police, CP Monday Agbonika, fdc, praised the bravery and professionalism of the police officers, soldiers, and vigilantes involved in the operation. He reaffirmed the Commandās unwavering commitment to protecting lives and property across the state efforts are ongoing to track and apprehend the fleeing suspects.
