“Police Recover AK-47 Rifles, Ammunition from Motorcycle Crash Scene in Niger State.”

Suleja, Niger State The Niger State Police Command has confirmed the recovery of three AK-47 rifles and several rounds of ammunition from two motorcycle accident victims in Suleja, in a development that underscores ongoing security concerns across parts of north central Nigeria.
According to police authorities, the incident occurred following a motorcycle crash involving two male occupants along a major route in Suleja. One of the victims reportedly died at the scene as a result of injuries sustained during the accident, while the second individual was later lynched by an irate mob after firearms and ammunition were allegedly discovered in their possession.
In an official statement, the Niger State Police Command said officers responding to a distress call recovered three AK-47 rifles and accompanying ammunition from the suspects. The command added that investigations are ongoing to determine the identities of the individuals and their possible links to criminal networks operating within the state and neighboring territories.
Security analysts note that Suleja, located near Nigeria’s Federal Capital Territory, has in recent years faced spillover effects from armed banditry and illicit arms trafficking affecting parts of Niger and adjoining states. The recovery of high grade assault rifles in this incident further highlights the proliferation of small arms in the region.
While condemning mob action, police authorities reiterated the importance of allowing security agencies to carry out lawful investigations and due process. The command urged residents to report suspicious activities promptly and avoid taking the law into their own hands.
The incident adds to broader national conversations around arms proliferation, community vigilance, and the role of law enforcement in combating violent crime. Reputable Nigerian media outlets including Premium Times, Punch Newspapers, and Channels Television have reported similar accounts of the recovery, citing police sources and local witnesses.
Authorities say further updates will be provided as investigations progress.
